Explorers and Pirates!
Today we had a fantastic launch day for our new topic. The children followed in Sir Francis Drake's footsteps by going on a voyage of their own around the world. By solving a series of clues they left England for South America, losing part of the fleet in the Atlantic Ocean, visiting Chile and Peru (where we discovered treasure) and then heading across the Pacific Ocean to the Spice Islands. After loading up with spices, we then sailed back to Plymouth - where the children were pleased to eat their delicious golden treasure!
In the coming weeks, we will be learning lots more about the Tudor explorers and about some of the places they visited.
