Frosty Fun

Image of Frosty Fun

Class One took advantage of the seasonal weather today and went outside to investigate the frost.  We all wrapped up warm and explored the school grounds, admiring the wonderful ice crystals on all the trees, fences and especially the cobwebs.  The children found a freshly formed mole hill, without any frost on it, and were amazed to feel the warmth of the loose soil. They compared this to an older mole hill, which was rock hard and sparkling white.  One of our class brought in some thick slabs of ice from his home and the children estimated how long it would take to melt.

We also used chalks and pastels to create some lovely frost-inspired artworks.

Having enjoyed the frost the children are now hoping for snow!!
